Internet Gaming Finally Legalized in New Jersey

New JerseyIt is now official, New Jersey is the third state in the United States of America to start offering internet gaming; this is after the states of Delaware and Nevada. The Republican Governor Chris Christie signed the legislation just two days ago.

Earlier in the Month, he had vetoed the first tabled bill conditionally, saying that he would be willing to sign if some key changes were made with regards to the trial period and the percentage of tax to be imposed on winnings. The amended bill had all the recommendations suggest by the

Governor and this saw a tax rate of 15% on winnings fixed while a 10 year trail period for the internet gaming set.
The bill was passed successfully with the senate recording a 35-1 vote while the General Assembly recording a 68-5 vote tallies. What this means is that players can play on New Jersey authorized casinos online and enjoy a selection of casino games such as slots and video poker.

In a released statement by Governor Christie he says," This is a very crucial decision that I did not take lightly. With the Proper legal framework and oversight measures that I needed included in the legislation, I am sure that it will have an impact on the competitiveness of Atlantic City which will additionally be of benefit financially to New Jersey."
