Iowa Online Poker Bill Hits a Snag

IowaIt seems that after the states of New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada have passed into law legislation that paves way for online gambling, while Pennsylvania is also seems to be well on its way; it seems that Iowa has run into a snag in its bid to become the fourth or fifth state in the Country to allow for online gambling. The proposed bill has evidently failed to progress.

The Senate Study Bill 1068 by Senator Jeff Danielson's which sought to have Online Poker legalized in the state has failed but at least for this legislative year.

In a statement that was released by the Senator it read, "The online poker bill has not made it past the senate committee's set deadline for the year. There is a lack of willingness by the house to continue perusing the bill even if the Senate was to pass it for another time. Subsequently the bill proposal will not be tabled again during this year."

Senator Danielson also added that he would keep on learning as much as he could in regard to this critical issue and keep on perusing for policy in the State that is both responsible and thoughtful. He also said that he believed that by doing nothing and keeping the status quo it wouldn't really help in safe guarding consumers within Iowa nor would it assist its land based casinos in adapting to the current market and industry trends.

The tabled legislation aimed to establish regulations that would have governed online poker gaming as well as enable some if not all of the 21 registered land based casino in the state start offering online poker gaming to the Iowa Players.
